The Illinois Public Aid Code requires all financial institutions to enter into agreements with the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (DHFS) regarding child support data matching. These agreements require the financial institution to provide information to help DHFS locate deposit accounts in order to satisfy past-due child support obligations of non-custodial responsible relatives. These agreements can take either one of two forms: (1) an agreement requiring the bank to provide the social security or tax identification numbers of all account holders or (2) an agreement requiring the bank to compare their account holder data with a DHFS list of responsible relatives with past-due child support obligations and to forward any matches to the DHFS. 305 ILCS 5/10-24.5. Please let us know if you have any difficulty locating or interpreting your institution’s agreement with the DHFS.
What should we be doing with the quarterly child support reports we receive from our processor?
